vera
Recently I was introduced to some lovely, vintage 'Vera' scarfs and after a little online investigation I discovered they were created by artist and textile designer Vera Neumann. Spanning over four decades from the late 1940's Vera's designs were mostly vibrant and lively displaying a wide variety of aesthetic styles. She worked up until her death in the early 90's and today The Vera Company continues in her name.

This weekend...
Finally — after 8 months — we purchased a digital SLR camera with the last of our wedding gift vouchers.
Drank Muscatel — a favourite of mine.
Watched Catfish. Have you seen it? Real or fake? I'd like to think it was real.
He played PlayStation. I crafted.
Listened to Tiny Ruins.
I hope you had a great weekend too!

work / life
A couple of you asked about the book pictured a few posts below. It is called, Work/Life 2 : The Uppercase Directory of International Illustration and is available to purchase here. The book features 100 illustrators from around the world, including pictures of their work and studios. This truly is a beautiful, diverse selection of illustrators. I love this kind of book. It also includes a few words from the illustrators about their work, inspirations and creative worlds. This really would be a handy book if you were an Art Director or someone in search of an illustrator for so many different reasons.
The pages above are from these fabulous illustrators (clockwise from top left): Anton Weflo, James Gulliver Hancock, Will Scobie, Andrea D'Aquino, Sandra Juto, Sandra Eterovic, Gemma Correll and Mia Christopher.
While I was taking these photos I also spotted a familiar looking face on the bottom right page belonging to Sandra. Remember? It is the mini Sandra I made as part of an Artist Exchange.
eyebrows & eyeballs
Also instead of baking on the weekend (as mentioned in the post below) I embroidering 16 sets of eyebrows, 42 eyeballs and 5 pairs of glasses! While doing so I revisited some of the fantastic short videos from here. I am now dreaming of creating puppets. Anyone know somewhere in Melbourne that does so?
etsy seven
It's time for Etsy 7, I think. This week is a little different to the usual
findings as I have themed it around a specific item — Vintage Cookie
Jars. I started searching for them over the weekend instead of actually baking anything. The cookie jar I grew up
with looked nothing like these wonderful character filled jars and exactly like this! Do you remember your childhood cookie jar?

haysheds & corners
A very cute looking book, with what appears to be a Cat Rabbit critter on the cover.

vintage tractors
A couple of weekends ago my dad and his mates went on a vintage tractor ride. There were twelve tractors in total all pre dating 1975.
These pictures make me miss this part of the country a little. Life seems slower here. The earth is a lovely rusty shade of red. The local pub is nicknamed 'church'. The land is flat and you can see for miles. Before rain the air smells amazing and the stars in the nights sky shine ever so brightly.
yesterday
In the studio yesterday. It was cold and rainy outside. A good day for staying in and knitting beards!
treasury love
