illustrated patterns

Many of you may have seen the Frankie Diary around the place of late, some of you may even be lucky enough to have one in your hot little hands already. I might just be one of the lucky ones too...!

Did you know this diary has been illustrated by the seriously talented Amy Borrell? Well it has and if you haven't managed to get your hands on one of these delightful diaries just yet I thought I'd share with you some of the beautifully illustrated patterns found inside.

There are also many more beautiful illustrations throughout the diary. I'm so tempted to show them all but I don't want to ruin the surprise so here are just a couple to get you wanting more!

A perfect chrissy present perhaps? They can be purchased over here.

making progress

I recently completed a few Bow Tie Boys and took some photos along the way which I thought would be nice to share with you so you can see them in progress. Most of these guys will be available at Craft Victoria.

wedding wrap-up : part 1

Wedding days mean different things to different people and for me it is a celebration of marriage. A day that marks the beginning to a new phase of the journey between two people who wish to share the rest of their lives together. And I respect that not all people need a day of marriage to happily do this. Marriage is a choice some of us might say are very lucky to have.

As my own wedding is quickly approaching I thought I would start doing a weekly wedding wrap-up and share with you some of my favourite images, moments and inspirations spotted throughout the week. Here goes!

Winners are grinners and the bride wore a gorgeous vintage dress. Via Wedding Chicks.

These two look so excited (take a closer look at Lillian and Leonard). I wonder if they were excited because they knew what was about to happen or what had just happened...

The sweetest hair barrett in the brides wedded last name. Handmade by a friend. And the dress, made by her mother inlaw. Beautiful touches. Via Once Wed.

So sweet and obviously so perfectly them. Patterned dress, coloured tights and matching finger nails. I love it. Via Lisen Adbåge.

The perfect tree to hide behind in your grandmothers wedding dress! Via Ruffled.

It's all about those amazing shoes. Via Krisatomic.

So here it is - a little sneak peek at some of the elements that went in to the final of our wedding invitation. I promise to show the final at a later date.

back in action

YAY! I'm back. Well our home internet is - finally

I must admit it has been kind of nice to have an unintended break from blogging. Even though I have missed you guys life has been pretty hectic too so I guess in a way having one less thing to fit in to my day has not been too hard to miss. Because lets face it, when blogging there are SO many wonderful blogs to read and I for one am constantly having to tell myself, this is the last blog I'm looking at for now, and before I know it I've clicked through to more links with more exciting things to read and see!! You can't tell me you don't fall victim to this too?!

Anywho, while I've been missing from these parts lots of things have been happening such as, finishing our DIY wedding invites, getting them printed and posted (we even made envelopes - crazy, I know - lucky it's a small wedding!), trialed a potential wedding cake, travelled over 500km to go to a wedding on the beautiful banks of the Murray River, picked up our favours (still to be personalised) and I have also been busy making custom orders of Bearded Blokes and almost finishing an order of Bow Tie Boys! I'm sure there is more. It feels like. Anyway, it's been busy.

And now that I am back I've been wanting to follow on from the Frankie post below with a little something I spotted in its pages however I couldn't seem to track down a creator or stockist details. It's this sweet, white porcelain looking kitty bangle. How awesome?! If anyone knows more about it I'd love to know too...please.

frankie blankie

Given I am a bit slow around these parts lately (still no internet at home) you may have already seen posts about the Frankie blanket, however in keeping with the quilt post below I thought I'd share a bit about it here too. Plus I got to embroider one of the squares!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Frankie blanket, a little while ago Frankie magazine got together a small group of talented, Australian illustrators such as, Caitlin Shearer, Mel Stringer, Ghostpatrol and Beci Orpin to come up with imagery for quilt squares. They then teamed up with a few of us crafty folk to embroider said designs onto the quilt squares. Shortly after more fabulous people turned the squares into what is now the completed Frankie blanket.

The Frankie blanket is currently in the midst of a silent auction which closes on October 19. The money from the highest bidder will got to the Salvation Army. So if you would like to be the proud owner of this pretty, handmade treasure place your bid via email at quilt@frankie.com.au

Oh and the square I had the pleasure of embroidering was designed by Caitlin Shearer. You can see her original design over here and some of my progress shots below.

project patchwork

Have you heard of Project Patchwork? Yes. No? Well you might like to check it out because these are no ordinary patchworks!
Project Patchwork is in its third year and is a collaborative, quilt project involving lots of cleaver people helping to raise money for those touched by cancer. You can read a little more about its inspiration over here.

This years project features one super special quilt, made by the hands of 27 crafty people including, Amy Borrell, Luci Everett (pictured above), Dell Stewart, Cat Rabbit (pictured above), the three cleaver ladies from Ortolan (Kat Macleod's pictured above) and some of the lovely ladies from Craft Victoria just to name a few. To see more of these fabulous squares head over here.

It is going to be amazing! You could win it too you know?! For 2 bucks a ticket... bargain!! There are also two other amazing quilts and one clutch up for grabs.

I would like to say a very special thanks to the lovely Lizzy for letting me share these pics and write about this special project. Thanks Lizzy!!

Do you know Lizzy? She is somewhat of a superstar me thinks! There doesn't seem to be anything this self confessed 'graphic designer in training' can't do. She works along side the ladies at Ortolan, has her own blog, plays a huge role in Project Patchwork and was recently a guest blogger over on The Design Files. Wowzers!

 YAY!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mel has one pretty blog and a lovely and colourful fabric store on Etsy. All fabric designed by Mel of course. Clever lady! Did I mention she is a new mum and is renovating a house too. Phew. Busy lady! Congrats Mel, I hope you enjoy your prize.

I know I am not showing any evidence of the draw but I forgot - kinda, and the lighting is terrible in the evenings. I did put everyone's comments in a box and drew one out fair and square though. Promise. This is a late post for me too, we are without the internet at home for now (oh the horror!!) so this is getting done at work (after hours of course!).

Thanks to everyone who entered, there were so many positive and constructive comments you really made me feel like what I'm doing over here may not just be for my own amusement after all! I'm really looking forward to sharing more of my own creations, things I am working on for our wedding and lots more wonderful things over the next 12 months. Hope you will stick around for the ride!
