Given I am a bit slow around these parts lately (still no internet at home) you may have already seen posts about the Frankie blanket, however in keeping with the quilt post below I thought I'd share a bit about it here too. Plus I got to embroider one of the squares!
For those of you who aren't familiar with the Frankie blanket, a little while ago Frankie magazine got together a small group of talented, Australian illustrators such as, Caitlin Shearer, Mel Stringer, Ghostpatrol and Beci Orpin to come up with imagery for quilt squares. They then teamed up with a few of us crafty folk to embroider said designs onto the quilt squares. Shortly after more fabulous people turned the squares into what is now the completed Frankie blanket.
The Frankie blanket is currently in the midst of a silent auction which closes on October 19. The money from the highest bidder will got to the Salvation Army. So if you would like to be the proud owner of this pretty, handmade treasure place your bid via email at quilt@frankie.com.au
Oh and the square I had the pleasure of embroidering was designed by Caitlin Shearer. You can see her original design over here and some of my progress shots below.
