camilla engman

I showed you a sneak peek of this pretty book a few posts ago and thought you might like to see some more. It really is pretty.

It comes with extra goodies too - postcards and a mini book on Moran the dog.

I really like the simple, black line, characters illustrated on some of the title pages.

And the limited palette paintings and illustrations below are ever so lovely too.

The two spreads above make me want to cut paper! And again, there are more of those cute, black line characters. Cute!

Look closely.

A boxing baby?!

Some much to look at in these pages.

I had such a nice time when I got to sit down and slowly take it all in, made even better by a rainy day and a yummy glass of red!

papercut heart

A sweet and simple, paper and tape card I made earlier this week for a very cute couple!

boy meets girl

This is the finished cushion couple you saw a sneak peak of. They are a little shy but I have a feeling they are going to get along just fine!

There are also only 2 of the 4 Bunny Bums left in store.

car type

I would definitely say I'm not really in to cars. I'm also definitely not a car snob. I very rarely, if ever, think about them. I'm just pretty happy if I can get from A to B and back again, with reasonable comfort. My first car had no air-con or CD player, even though I loved Chuggs (she looked something like this), living in country Victoria where most of the summer is well above 30 degrees, melting was definitely not a good look. So now, my 'reasonable comfort' equals air-con!

This weekend however, while stationary at traffic lights, which took forever to change, I started to really look at the cars around me. One in particular caught my eye. From where I was positioned all I could see was part of the badge - MO..., given the size and age of the car I assumed is said Morris. (My Mum has a sunny yellow Morris Minor as her first car, possibly why Morris came to mind.)

Oddly I've thought about this car a lot since then and had to see what I could find on Google.

This is it.

A Morris 1100 built between 1962 and 1974. I think if I were a car, I'd be this.

Do you have a car type?

A very talented and generous, blogger friend sent this pretty package to me. It definitely brightened my day. Thank-you lovely lady.

I think she knows I like cats!

Another cutie made in Japan. Poseable clown from Old, New, Treasured and True. I really like the colours in the face, hat and bow-tie on this little fellow.

Hope you have enjoyed my week of vintage dolls, found on etsy.

penny peg & eskimo friend

There may be lots of potential for this bare, yet adorable 'Penny Peg' jointed folk art doll. However, I quite like her just as she is. Available at Erin Jade's Etsy store.

I agree with the description accompanying these two, 'very worn but have such charm'.

Look at those stitches. I wonder who's hands created them...

I love the painted face on this, especially the triangle mouth. Simple, yet so much expression.

vintage dolls

Ok so steering right away from any more pictures of Millie I thought I'd show a few vintage dolls this week, from Etsy sellers I've come across lately.

Starting off with these cute Kewpie style tumblers from blackblues.etsy.com

hello there!

I've been making a few little bits and pieces lately. It seems I'm good at starting projects, finishing is a little more difficult.

This week I hope to get some things on the To-Do list complete and I'm telling myself not to start anything new until I have. We will see. Finding time is the other challenge, work has been busy so time to craft is pretty much limited to any spare time on the weekends.

How do you fit everything in? Are you good at getting projects finished?

My little buddy, Millie, the cat isn't fussed either way, I'm sure she just wishes I could stay home all day to keep her company.

Whenever I am home working at my desk she either sits here on the window ledge or snoozes underneath. She is a little bit like a shadow, never too far away.

There have been a few appearances by Millie lately hasn't there? Not sure what's going on, promise this will be the last for a little while.
But she is pretty cute though!

today

The good bits so far... sleeping kitty, good coffee, sunshine, reading and listening to The Smiths.

stuck on you

I love receiving mail. A little delusional perhaps, I call most of the exciting items to arrive via post these days 'gifts'. My boy likes to remind me they are actually called purchases. Anywho, one such gift arrived this weekend with this great selection of stamps. I wonder if the shipper put these on or it was the work of the postal staff? Either way it made receiving this parcel all the more fun!

yesterday

Enjoying the wet weather. Indoors.
Read this pretty book and we also watched this movie.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

art, baguettes and a hail storm

Our day started out picking up some parcels at the post office, books I will have to show you in another post. We then decided to spend the day in the city having a look around ACMI at Screen Worlds and the Mary and Max (by Adam Elliot) exhibitions.

images from here and here

Both were amazing (and free), I think we spent at least a couple of hours in at Screen Worlds alone.

Feeling peckish, afterwards, we headed to our fav little spot in the city to grab a baguette and continued walking in the lovely sunshine toward the Arts Center. We were on our way to check out the Ron Mueck exhibition at NGV.

We sat in the shade to eat lunch as it was so sunny and joked about my comments before leaving home - how we were forecast rain today and it's always cooler in the city so make sure you're warm enough! (Yes. I'm a nanna!)

image from here

Little did we know that within minutes of exiting the Ron Mueck exhibition (which was AMAZING!) we would be hit by this....

federation square was covered in a speckled carpet of white

we made a run for it closer to acmi and under more shelter

Sure it looked dark and as if we were about to cop the heaviest down-poor but it was humid. Too humid for hail... one would think. Oh how we were wrong!

the only camera we had was a mobile phone so apologies for the low quality but i still think you get the idea

I hope all of you in Melbourne are safe and dry and didn't get hurt by any of the crazy weather we have been hit with today.
