Here is what I ended up with for Mike's March Paper Make-a-Long. I had a lot of fun making this pink lass. Plus I learnt a few things along the way like, glue sticks don't always stick and making a head from paper is quite tricky!
She is standing infront of the pens because for some reason she only wanted to stand on her own when made from yukky white cheapo photocopy paper with very unattractive pencil markings. Hmm.
A little freestyle crocheting I did last winter. As the weather cools my mind turns to knitting and crocheting and thoughts of staying warm! I wonder what I will create this year...
Oh lordy! I am so excited! I nearly wet my pants today when I saw this post (...perhaps a little dramatic). Due out in Fall in America. Not sure when in Oz. Anyone know? I heard Spike Jonze was involved some time ago but these were the first stills I'd seen. More stills to view on the fan site here. Following my initial excitement I also found a this little clip.

Morning sun.
A warm shower.
The smell of rain and freshly cut grass.
Flower buds.
A sincere thank-you.
Laughter. A smile.
Sitting, observing, drawing.
A friendly face. A helping hand.
Family.
A goodnight kiss.
It's the little things that amount to so much.

Yesterday I received an apology with flowers. They were not expected. A nice surprise indeed.
For me cozy is a little about feeling security, comfort, warmth and love, from others and within myself. The first thing that pops into my mind when the word cozy is mentioned is a cool night snuggled under my doona feeling all cozed, as we call it in this house.
I sleep with the doona way up high over the back of my head and down the side of my face covering me from my nose down. So basically just my eyes look out...sometimes I stick my whole head under! The feeling of being comfortable and warm in my own bed at the end of a day ready for sleep is a feeling I truly treasure and am thankful for. I remind myself not to take this simple pleasure for granted. I feel safe, warm and loved, something to cherish I think.
I've also been know to prolong the coziness of staying in bed on a cold winters morning by sitting on the couch slowly eating breakfast and drinking a big cup of tea. My favourite old crochet blanket my mum made for me over my legs and Millie my cat curled up on my lap. Not limited to the weekends...I usually run late for work on these morning!
More coziness over here.
I'm a big fan of Catherine Campbell's work and a big fan of cats so when I saw these cute little prints in her shop I couldn't resist.
Apologies for the lack of posts over the past couple weeks, things have been quite busy on the work front, there has been little time for blogging. I even missed my fortnightly Friday Five post but thought I could make up for it today. What's two days right?
The first one is illustrator, Sachiko Kanaizumi found via Catherine's blog.
Here are the remaining four. Ive gone with an illustrative theme this fortnight!
Hope you enjoy this bunch of cool cats! Ha, lame, I know.

I was exploring a couple of paper related ideas this weekend in the spirit of Mike's March Make-a-Long project when I came across a cute, little box with lid, paper folding tutorial. The instructions were super clear and easy to follow. There is no gluing, just folding and the finished box is really sturdy. I'll be trying this one again for sure. If you want to too you can check it out over here .
Above is my attempt at making one half of the box.
Arms and cheeky Pupette not included, leftovers from other paper explorations only.
Yesterday I had a breakfast date, well kind of. The other half and I bought a cute little second hand outdoor setting for our balcony last weekend and during this week I was asked if I would like to keep Saturday morning free for a breakfast date. Of course I was up it! We had a very delish brekkie and spent good quality time together after a hectic week. Luckily we just finished too before the rain came pouring down.
We had lots of rain here in Melbourne yesterday and more today, I hear it is helping to control some of the fires still burning in Victoria. With a few more days of rain fall forecast, here's to hoping it lands in all the right places.
So it's been a long weekend here in Melbourne, my partner and I opted to stay put, saving money and all in these times we are in. However this low key weekend and extra day off work has been super nice. There was some bargain vintage shopping. I picked up a lovely dress and wintery skirt (see pics below) which needs a button added but otherwise both are ready to wear once washed. This is pretty amazing for me as I'm short and usually have to take up hems.
We also managed to get to the Gorker Gallery to see the wonderful exhibition While You Sleep by Ghostpatrol and Cat Rabbit. It ended yesterday so we were just in the nick-of-time! I forgot my camera but one of my favourites was the Skelator and H-Man softies, you can see them if you watch the slide show on the exhibition over here.
I also snuck in some time to watch my all time favourite movie and finished making a softie from old socks I have had cut out for weeks for Handmade Help. I will post pics of the little guy tomorrow.
Hmm... I wonder how Tim Walker feels about the latest Dotti advertising campaign?!?
I personally couldn't quite believe what I was seeing and am doubting (I could not find any information to prove otherwise) that Mr Walker was in any way involved...
Dotti ad spotted in latest Cosmo.
This pic is a reproduction of Tim Walkers original, found here.

I had completely forgotten about this fence. We saw it from Hyde Park, London while there last November. Isn't it great! I believe it was on top of a scaffold walkway, the building behind it was clearly undergoing renovations.
The pencils had different words on them like, 'East is East, and West is West', 'A Creaking Door Hangs Longest', 'Nice one, Cyril' and 'Art is Long and Life is Short'.
What a great weekend! Apart from spending some fun time with friends who are off to live in the UK tomorrow, I picked up a copy of Mike Perry's hand-drawn pattern book I've had on order. A popular book around these parts it seems, sold out at several good book stores. Brand new textas topped it all off and some more time with good friends. Hope your weekend was a super one too!
