treasure hunting

Today we went for a lovely drive down to Mornington, roughly one hour south-east of Melbourne.

Below are some pics from the fossicking fun, 60,000 square feet of antiques and bric-a-brac goodness called, Mornington Antique Centre. Open 7 days, 10am-5pm, 65 Tyabb Road, Mornington.

The 'Budget Tin' above had coin slots in the lid and a compartmental tray on the inside. The words on the lid read, Phone, House Keeping, Bread, Milk, Insurance, Rates, Gas/Electricity and House Payments! Cute, I thought. If only those items could be payed for with a little pile of coins today!

More tins! And the last pic below is a cookie jar I couldn't bear to leave behind (ooo bad pun joke - sorry!).

There were so many other items we were tempted to purchase but the reality is for now, we just don't have the space.

oh sweet bear!
i wish i could justify buying old tins but i don't have the space either. when i get my own place.

i'm from the uk, and i'll be visiting melbourne in late october when i go backpacking. i'll definitely take a wander down to mornington. any other recommendations you may have for places that're offbeat or off the tourist track will be greatly received :)

Oh wow, that place is heavenly!! Oh to find it's equal in rainy ol NZ... imagine if you did have the space, my house would end up looking like an antique centre itself...

Looks like the kind of place I could hang out in. I especially like the budget tin. I need one for our 20 year old. She can't budget to save her life.
