What started off with good intent turned in to a moment of experimentation which then ended up turning out a bit wrong!
This was supposed to be my submission for the 'Morran Book' which you can read about here. I really wanted to do a version of Super Morran, the adventurer. Sometimes however when criteria for a submission is as open as this was I get excited and decide to try something new. In this case, the newness for me was making a pattern with gussets to create a 3D softie sculpture. I didn't really know how wide or long to do the gussets and without leaving myself time before the deadline to try a second time this experiment turned out looking more like a... um... cow perhaps? Poor little Morran she really is such a sweet thing — nothing at all like a cow! Don't get me wrong, I am not all about perfection. I love a bit of wonk and visible signs of the creator behind a handmade object but this cow-dog just wasn't doing the real Morran any justice.
She may have ended up unfinished but she is not unloved and this experimental fail has me wanting to try again. Perhaps I'll be less ambitious next time and try making something similar from an existing pattern to understand how it works first!
What about you — have you been experimenting with anything new (to you) lately?

Naaw, I think the super dog is adorable & not at all cow-like but I understand that to you it's not exactly what you were after. Pretty bloody good for a first attempt too mind!
Oh Evie, Morran is absolutely super! You are being too hard on yourself but I think I know what you mean... the finished product doesn't match the idea in your mind? From someone (me) with no preconceived picture etc, Morran is sooooo not cow-like and is definitely sooooo adorable! I hope you submitted your picture :) Kx
You are being mean with yourself! its not bad at all!!!!!
Oh my goodness Evie. He is gorgeous!! I love him.
You are so creative and gorgeous. xx
I think he is absolutely gorgeous! I would be very pleased with myself if I managed to make something even half as lovely.
it is really lovely!!!!
;)
I don't agree at all E, I think he's lovely. I don't know what the dogs are called, but they are usually owned by older men, kind of like a short legged terrier of some sort, a Jack Russell with short legs. I love it.
