egon

I purchased this gorgeous box of chocolates decorated with Egon Schiele's painting, The Artists Wife last November on our honeymoon in Vienna. Egon was mentored by Gustav Klimt in the early 1900's and we were lucky enough to get to see work from both of these artists including Klimt's, The Kiss at Belvedere Palace. I was quite taken with Egon's portraits and there as something in the eyes of his work which reminded me a little of Australian artist, William Dobell, especially this piece.

I see what you mean... is that 'far away' look? That the mind is elsewhere? Both intense studies in any case. I see you haven't eaten the chocolates yet ;) Kx

Beautiful chocolates! Such a refreshing change from macarons. Every year when I was wee we'd drive to Austria, and I loved buying Mozart Kugeln, dark chocolated coated marzipan balls wrapped in beautiful gold paper.

You visited a few cities in Europe so ?!

About 3 or 4 years I saw a lot of his work in the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, I was imply in love with it. I still really like it. I read a small real-fiction book about one of his journey during the war, maybe if I found the tittle I could send it to you?!

+ thank you I discover a australian artist !

That is a stunning box of chocolates! Almost too good to eat. I can't wait for the vienna art and design exhibition this year at the ngv - it would have been amazing to see Klimt and Schiele's works in vienna!

Almost too beautiful to eat... almost! But that gorgeous packaging obviously had a lot of thought put into it, and can forever remind you of your Viennese honeymoon.
