Some little faces I had been working on with the intention to turn them into brooches. Unfortunately when I applied varnish they smudged.
I tested both liquid and spray varnish beforehand and found the spray to have a better result. I didn't think I sprayed enough on the test so perhaps I over compensated on these. Oh well. All part of the process I suppose. Next time I will try drawing them completely in paint and no markers to avoid any smudging at all!

these are adorable! i love the fellow with the stubble. that's so disappointing that the varnish smudged them.
they are so lovely :). Love 'em!
You are most clever! These are just so personable.
I love these so much!!!
xx
gorgeous!
Boo to that stinkin varnish!
Evie...they are fantastic! Such a shame about the smudge but yes I agree all part of the process.
It might be worth asking Claire what she used for the Kokeshi?
Oh they are just exquisite! It's a shame they have smudged but I hope you find another solution. Are you going to sell them? They are so gorgeous!
They are really cute!!
I wish we could get that clay here, but we dont! hahaha :D
THese are beautiful Evie! I love them!
Nice work! Nice try! ^-^
i would definitely buy one!
Wow Evie, I really love these!
Oh Evie, they are AMAZING!!! I just love them. Can't see the smudges or was this a 'before' shot? Such a shame but at least you know now. Can't wait for your finished ones - are you going to sell them? Yes please! :) K
It's like each one has it's own personality.. fantastic!
These are so cute! They would make lovely brooches! What a bummer they smudges...!
I LOVE these. Too bad about the smudging, but it's part of the process. I used to make clay pendants, and I have LOADS of failed attempts - most of which I still keep (don't know why). I like to think I'm not doing enough if I haven't made mistakes :)
they're lovely... like a royal tenenabaums family :) blah to the bad varnish for smudging them!
I love them too - Clare at Loobylu had something similar happen to her recently - but she found a varnished that coped - read back over the last month and it may help!
hello again - just saw these on Pip's blog - yep, still loving them to pieces!
Hi, I just wanted to compliment you on these fantastic faces. I'd love to buy one (or more!) if you do get around to making brooches out of them. Will keep an eye on your blog!
