picture songs

My partner came home with a gorgeous pocket sized, handmade zine the other night. Picture Songs, created in Melbourne, by Darby Hudson. (What a cool name!)

As stated in the back of the zine, "Darby Hudson has cartooned and written for the Chaser Newspaper, Inkgroup Greeting Cards and the Myer Melbourne Windows."

Here are some of my favourite pages.

Perhaps I could try this on Monday mornings...

Edit: I wish I could say my lovely partner had bought this sweet zine home for me the other night, he didn't, he was lucky enough to have been given it from the creator himself! They have both done a creative course together. I believe Darby has gone on to score a pretty neat copy writing job! Funny thing is he landed in the course after this idea - "One day I woke up and decided to apply for every job in The Age with this resume." Do check it out for more greatness!

For those of you wondering where you can get a copy of the Picture Songs zine, here is a stockist list which can also be found on Darby's website.

SAN FRANCISCO: City Lights, SYDNEY: Gleebooks, VICTORIA (mostly MELBOURNE): Angus & Robertson (City), Dymocks (City), Readings (Carlton, Hawthorn & St Kilda), Polyester (Brunswick), Brunswick Street Bookstore (Fitzroy), Metropolis (City), RMIT Bookstore, Greville Street Bookstore (Prahran), Melbourne Uni Bookstore, Handheld Gallery (City), Chronicles Bookshop (St Kilda), Farrells (Mornington), Page 8 (Mornington), Antipodes Bookstore (Sorrento).

I definitely need a clapping walrus and a dancing money to fanfare and herald my presence. Definitely.
