stockholm : part II

As mentioned in my previous post Stockholm is made up of 14 islands, we only spent time on 5 of them and my favourite was Djurgården, once a hunting ground for Sweden's King John III. Now owned by the Royal National City Park, Djurgården is home to museums, galleries, historial buildings, an amusement park, circus and beautiful lush forest. For part of our Djurgården adventure we rode hired bikes in a gentle misty rain discovering hairy highland cows, newborn swans and buildings fit for a Wes Anderson set. The rest of our adventure was on foot strolling Skansen, an open-air museum and zoo where we meet new spring babies and sampled historical Sweden in miniature. With so much left to see we knew we'd return.
